Considerations
For Choosing a Wedding Cake and Pastry Chef
Things
You Should Consider When Choosing a Wedding Cake and Pastry
Chef
For every question, there is an answer, but
where to turn when you don't know what to ask... that is the
quandary!! I suggest asking your other vendors for recommendations.
Your bridal coordinator, florist or event manager will want
to help you choose the right pastry chef.
Begin by calling any recommended or favorite
bakers in your area to inquire about the date. Once you have
determined who is available, don't be afraid to talk money.
You don't want to waste your time talking to someone who is
going to be completely out of your budget. But also remember
that if several bakers are in the same range, and others are
severly lower, there may be some quality issues to consider.
Once you talk to someone you like, book your tasting and initial
consultation. Remember because there is freshly prepared product
involved, please keep your appointment or cancel within 24
hours.
The chef that you meet with should have a
portfolio of their wedding and dessert work to show you as
well. This is a great way to get ideas that you may not have
considered. Remember that just because they haven't done the
cake that you wanted before or show pictures of it in their
book doesn't make it beyond approach, don't be afraid to ask
questions! Most reputable pastry chefs will jump to the chance
to think outside the box and create something unique and wonderful
for you!
